Will there be changes to the original script of 'Ramayana'? Namit Malhotra reveals the reason for postponing the sequel..

Produced with a budget of ₹4,000 crore, the film *Ramayana (Part 1)* is set to be one of the biggest releases of 2026. The makers are releasing this Nitesh Tiwari-helmed project in two parts. While *Ramayana: Part 1* is scheduled to hit theaters during the Diwali week, the release of *Ramayana: Part 2* has been pushed back.

Namit Malhotra, the producer of this mythological epic, has confirmed the postponement to 2028 and explained the reason behind it. Furthermore, he has also shared details regarding the narrative of *Ramayana: Part 1*.

Why has *Ramayana: Part 2* been pushed to Diwali 2028?
For the past few days, reports regarding the postponement of *Ramayana: Part 2* have been gaining traction on social media. Speaking to *E-News*, Namit Malhotra confirmed the delay and explained why the second installment of the mythological film had to be moved to Diwali 2028. Namit stated, "When we announced the first part of the film, our vision was to take it global as an Indian film."

Namit Malhotra added, "However, during the production process, we reached a point where we ended up with two 'master' versions of the film. For the English version, we made some adjustments to the original Hindi script and re-edited the footage to ensure it is presented to the audience in its most authentic form."

"We need a bit more time to make the movie."
Explaining the decision to push the sequel's release from Diwali 2027 to Diwali 2028, Namit Malhotra stated, "As we prepare to present this grand finale to the audience, we need a little more time to ensure it is truly excellent. Given the scale of the film, I believe taking an extra year will allow us to do justice to it. When Part 2 arrives, you will see that the story is completely different. We don’t want to rush our work; we want to ensure the film gets the finale it truly deserves."

What will the story of *Ramayana: Part 1* be about?
Along with announcing the delay for *Ramayana: Part 2*, producer Namit Malhotra also shared a spoiler regarding the plot of the first installment. He revealed that the story of the first part will revolve around a young Rama and his three brothers—Lakshmana, Bharata, and Shatrughna. Meanwhile, the abduction of Sita and Rama’s eventual defeat of Ravana will be depicted in the sequel.

As for the star cast of *Ramayana: Part 1*, the film will feature Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, alongside several other actors including Sunny Deol, Sai Pallavi, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta, and Arun Govil. The film is set to release in theaters on November 5th.
