Today is September 7, 2026, and according to the Hindu calendar, the Aja Ekadashi fast is being observed; this marks the first Ekadashi of the month of September. Fasting, worship, and devotion hold special significance on this holy day dedicated to Lord Vishnu. However, there has been some confusion regarding the exact date of Aja Ekadashi this year. Let us find out when the fast is to be observed, the auspicious time for breaking the fast (*Paran*), and the proper method of worshipping Lord Vishnu.

**When will the Aja Ekadashi fast be observed?**
According to the *Panchang* (Hindu almanac), the Ekadashi *Tithi* (lunar day) of the *Krishna Paksha* (waning phase of the moon) in the month of Bhadrapada begins at 7:30 PM on September 6, 2026, and concludes at 5:05 PM on the following day, September 7. Since the *Udaya Tithi* (the sunrise date) is considered authoritative for fasting, the Aja Ekadashi fast will be observed on Monday, September 7, 2026.
**When will the Aja Ekadashi fast be broken (*Paran*)?**
The Aja Ekadashi fast will be broken on September 8, 2026. According to the *Panchang*, the auspicious time for breaking the fast is between 6:02 AM and 8:33 AM on this day. Devotees observing the fast may break it after bathing, performing worship, and offering prayers to Lord Vishnu during this period.
**Auspicious *Yogas* on Aja Ekadashi**
This year, Aja Ekadashi is considered particularly significant from a religious perspective. On the morning of September 7, there will be a conjunction of the *Punarvasu* and *Pushya* *Nakshatras* (constellations). Additionally, *Variyan Yoga* and *Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga* are also expected to occur on this day.
**Worship Rituals for Aja Ekadashi**
Wake up before sunrise, bathe, and wear clean clothes.
Clean the place of worship, purify it with *Gangajal* (holy water from the Ganges), and take a solemn vow (*Sankalp*) to observe the fast.
Place an image or idol of Lord Vishnu on a yellow or red cloth.
Offer yellow sandalwood paste, *Akshat* (unbroken rice grains), flowers, garlands, and garments to the deity. Be sure to include *Tulsi* leaves in the worship.

Offer *Kheer* (rice pudding), sweets, and seasonal fruits as *Bhog* (sacred food offering).
Light a *ghee* lamp and incense, and chant mantras dedicated to Lord Vishnu. After this, recite the Vishnu Chalisa and the Aja Ekadashi Vrat Katha.
Finally, perform the Aarti of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Ekadashi.
On the following day, after performing the worship during the *Dwadashi* Tithi, break the fast at the scheduled time.
