Box Office: Suriya’s film makes a splash on its opening day, sets a record with its first-day earnings..

Malayalam filmmaker Jeethu Madhavan’s Tamil debut, 'Seen', was released in theaters on Friday, coinciding with Dhanteras. Starring Suriya, Nazriya Nazim, and Naslen, the film has received a mixed response from both audiences and critics. Its first-day box office collection has now been revealed.

'Seen' earned over ₹19 crore on its opening day, surpassing the opening figures of Suriya’s other hit films released earlier this year, 'Karuppu' and 'Vishwanath & Sons'.

How much did 'Seen' earn on its opening day?
According to the trade website Sacnilk, 'Seen' recorded a net collection of ₹19.15 crore in India on its first day. The majority of this revenue came from the Tamil version, which contributed ₹16.15 crore, while the dubbed versions added ₹3 crore. The film also performed well internationally, raking in approximately ₹12 crore.

Released during the Diwali festive period, the film now carries high expectations for its opening weekend. It remains to be seen how it will perform at the box office in the coming days.

Suriya surpasses his own previous releases.
In terms of opening-day collections, 'Seen' has outperformed both of Suriya’s films released earlier this year. 'Karuppu', directed by RJ Balaji and released in May, earned ₹15.50 crore on its first day—comprising ₹13.10 crore from the Tamil version and ₹2.40 crore from the Telugu version.

Meanwhile, 'Vishwanath & Sons', which hit theaters in August, collected ₹15.35 crore on its opening day, with ₹9.15 crore coming from the Tamil version and ₹6.20 crore from the Telugu version.

Could Not Break the Record Set by These Films
However, the record for the biggest opening of the year is still held by Rajinikanth’s 'Jailer 2' and Vijay’s 'Jana Nayakan'. 'Jailer 2' collected ₹59.70 crore on its first day, while 'Jana Nayakan' brought in ₹42.70 crore. 'Seen' failed to break this record.

Will 'Seen' Be Able to Break the Record Set by 'Karuppu'?
In terms of earnings, 'Karuppu' emerged as Suriya’s biggest film to date, amassing a total of ₹310.12 crore over its entire theatrical run. Meanwhile, 'Vishwanath and Sons' recorded a total collection of ₹209.46 crore. It remains to be seen whether 'Seen' can surpass the lifetime collections of both these films.
