Holi is a festival of colors and joy, as well as a plethora of delicacies. Often, we get so busy with Holi preparations that we don't find time to make traditional mawa gulab jamuns. In such a situation, bread gulab jamuns are a great alternative.

They are not only quick to prepare, but also taste so delicious that no one will be able to tell they are made from bread. Let's learn an easy recipe for making soft and juicy gulab jamuns from bread this Holi.
Ingredients
Bread slices - 8-10 (white bread)
Milk - 1/2 cup
Cream or milk powder - 2 tablespoons
Sugar - 1.5 cups (for syrup)
Water - 1 cup
Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
Saffron threads - 4-5 grams
Ghee or oil - for frying
Finely chopped nuts - for garnishing
Method of preparation
First, add sugar and water to a deep pan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Add cardamom powder and saffron. We don't want a stringy syrup; just cook it for 5-7 minutes after the sugar dissolves, so it becomes slightly sticky. Once the syrup is ready, set it aside.
Next, take the bread slices and cut all four edges with a knife. Now, break the bread into small pieces and put them in a bowl. Add milk powder or cream, which gives the Gulab Jamuns a mawa-like flavor.
Now, slowly add lukewarm milk to the bread pieces and begin kneading them gently. Make sure the dough is neither too hard nor too wet. Knead it until it becomes completely smooth.
Next, apply a little ghee to your palms and form small balls from the prepared dough. Make sure there are no cracks in the balls, they may burst while frying.
Now, heat ghee or oil in a pan. Keep the flame on medium and slowly add the Gulab Jamuns. Fry them evenly on all sides until golden brown.
Then, remove the fried gulab jamuns from the pan and place them directly into the lukewarm syrup. Let them soak in the syrup for at least 30-45 minutes, so they absorb the juice and soften.
