A few days ago, the upcoming OTT film *Gandhari*, starring Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu, was announced. Now, a new controversy has emerged surrounding the movie. The makers of *Gandhari* face serious allegations of story theft, creating mounting trouble for Taapsee's film ahead of its OTT release.

**Serious Allegations Against the Makers of *Gandhari***
On August 21, the OTT platform Netflix India shared the first-look poster of *Gandhari*, offering a glimpse of Taapsee Pannu and the rest of the cast. The makers also confirmed that the film would stream online on Netflix starting September 3. However, a dispute regarding the film's story arose before the release.

An *India Today* report claims that Kanika Dhillon, the writer of *Gandhari*, stole the film's story. Kalyan Bandi—an IIT Madras alumnus currently serving as an inspector in the Central GST and Customs Department—has leveled serious allegations of plagiarism against the makers. Bandi is also an accomplished writer; he revealed to *India Today* that he had written and registered the story for this movie back in 2019.

Furthermore, he had narrated the story during that period to Monika Shergill, who was working at Voot at the time and is currently a Vice President at Netflix. Bandi stated that he had even sent a legal notice to the makers of *Gandhari* regarding this matter in September 2025.

**Kanika’s Team Dismisses Allegations**
In response to the issue, the team representing *Gandhari* writer Kanika Dhillon has categorically denied the copyright infringement allegations, asserting that the story was written entirely by her.
