According to a report by the Telangana-based news website Gulte, filmmaker Sripriya's production company and Rajkumar Theatres Private Limited filed a petition seeking to halt the OTT release of the Telugu version of 'Drishyam 3'. The Telugu version was scheduled to stream on Amazon Prime Video on June 18, but Justice K. Kumaresh Babu has stayed the release before that date. The court observed, "It is noted that despite private notice being served, neither did anyone enter an appearance on their behalf nor was anyone present in court.

Their names have also been printed in the court's cause list. In view of this matter, an interim stay order is issued. This order restrains the respondents—including their employees, agents, representatives, licensees, or anyone claiming through them—from releasing the movie in the Telugu language on OTT platforms in a manner that infringes upon the applicant's copyrights."

What is the controversy surrounding 'Drishyam 3'?
'Drishyam 3' is the third installment in the suspense-thriller franchise starring Mohanlal. Previously, both 'Drishyam' (2014) and 'Drishyam 2' were remade in Telugu. However, for this third installment, the makers decided against producing a Telugu remake, opting instead to release a dubbed Telugu version directly on OTT platforms.

Venkatesh played the lead role in both previous Telugu installments of 'Drishyam'. Sripriya directed the Telugu versions, and she has claimed rights over the Telugu version of the franchise.
