Said goodbye to international cricket in 2020

It has been almost five years since Dhoni retired from international cricket. Dhoni played his last match for India in the semi-finals of the 2019 ODI World Cup. India lost that match and was eliminated from the tournament. After this, Dhoni did not play any matches for India and then decided to retire from international cricket on 15 August 2020.

Won three ICC titles under his captaincy

Dhoni, popularly known as Captain Cool, is one of India's most successful captains. Dhoni, who hails from Ranchi, led India to the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup, and 2013 Champions Trophy titles. Dhoni is the only Indian captain under whose captaincy the team has won three ICC titles. Apart from this, under his leadership, India also won the Asia Cup title in 2010, and 2016. Dhoni made his debut for India against Bangladesh in 2004.

Before him, Neetu David, Virender Sehwag, Diane Edulji, Vinod Mankad, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Kapil Dev, Bishan Singh Bedi and Sunil Gavaskar have received this honor. Gavaskar and Bishan Singh Bedi are the oldest players from India to be included in the ICC Hall of Fame. They received this honor in 2009.

His best score is 56 runs. Talking about Tests, Dhoni played 90 matches, scoring 4,876 runs at an average of 38.09. He scored six centuries and 33 half-centuries with a best score of 224. He is the 14th-highest run-scorer for India in Tests. As a captain, he led India in 60 Test matches, out of which he won 27 matches, lost 18 and drew 15. With a win percentage of 45 percent, he is one of India's most successful captains. He led Team India to the number one ranking in the ICC Test rankings. Dhoni played 350 ODIs for India in which he scored 10773 runs. During this, he scored 10 centuries and 73 half-centuries. His highest score in ODIs was 183 not out.
