Congress leader Shama Mohammed, who made a controversial statement on Indian captain Rohit Sharma, on Tuesday praised the Indian team's victory over Australia in the Champions Trophy semi-final. Also congratulated Virat Kohli for his innings.

In a post on X, Shama said, 'Congratulations to Team India for the brilliant victory against Australia in the semi-final of the Champions Trophy 2025. Many congratulations to Virat Kohli for scoring 84 runs and becoming the first player to score 1000 runs in an ICC knockout tournament.'

Now the final will be in Dubai instead of Lahore.

Shama had shamed Rohit Sharma for obesity.

It is worth noting that Congress spokesperson Shama Mohammed had shamed Indian captain Rohit Sharma for obesity by posting a post on Monday. Shama's post had created a big controversy, angering millions of cricket fans and facing criticism from various quarters including her own party and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, who called it 'extremely shameful'.

BJP leaders attack Congress

BJP leaders attacked the Congress after Shama Mohammed targeted Rohit Sharma. The ruling party's social media head Amit Malviya alleged that it was a 'pre-planned attempt to lower the team's morale at a crucial time'.

Congress distanced itself from Mohammed's comment on Sharma.

Dissociating itself from Mohammed's comment on Rohit Sharma, the Congress had said that Shama's comments about the cricket legend did not reflect the party's position. The Congress advised Shama to be more careful in future.

Congress media and publicity department chief Pawan Khera said, 'The Indian National Congress gives the highest respect to the contribution of sports legends and does not support any statement that undermines their legacy.'

Shama asked to remove the social media post: Kheda.

Pawan Khera said that Shama has been asked to remove social media posts. However, Mohammad had said that these were his personal comments and it has been unnecessarily made an issue. He also said that he is proud of Sharma, but she was only talking about his fitness.

Shama also shared Kangana Ranaut's post.

Apart from this, late on Monday night, Shama Mohammad also shared an old post of actress Kangana Ranaut, in which she criticized Rohit Sharma for his post on the farmers' movement.
