Indian captain Rohit Sharma has registered his name in the record book by winning the ICC Champions Trophy. India won the title by defeating New Zealand by 4 wickets in the Champions Trophy final played in Dubai. Ravindra Jadeja hit the winning shot for India. Jadeja gave India the title win through a four. The Indian team was chasing a target of 252 runs. Team India won with the loss of six wickets with 6 balls to spare.

Rohit Sharma is the second captain of India to win 2 ICC trophies. Earlier in 2024, he led India to the T20 World Cup trophy under his captaincy. M Dhoni has won 3 ICC trophies for India, while under Ganguly's captaincy, India shared the ICC Champions Trophy with Sri Lanka in 2002, while under Kapil Dev's captaincy, India won the ODI World Cup in 1983.
India won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 by defeating New Zealand by four wickets in the final here on Sunday with a half-century by captain Rohit Sharma (76 runs). This is India's second consecutive ICC title. Chasing a target of 252 runs in the final, India won by scoring 254 runs for six wickets in 49 overs. Shreyas Iyer scored 48 runs and Shubman Gill scored 31 runs. Axar Patel contributed 29 runs. KL Rahul scored an unbeaten 34 and Ravindra Jadeja scored an unbeaten nine to lead the team to victory.
