While MS Dhoni is not only fit but is also playing a big role in the victory of Chennai Super Kings. So are such questions asked because of age? Let us know who holds the record of the oldest player in IPL and who will be the oldest player in the current tournament.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one of the few players who have been playing since the first season of IPL. This will be his 18th season in IPL. When Dhoni takes the field against Mumbai Indians on 23 April, he will be 43 years and 259 days old. Dhoni will become the oldest player of IPL 2025. However, in the history of the tournament, two players have taken the field at an age older than Dhoni.
Brad Hogg holds the record.
Australia's Brad Hogg holds the record of being the oldest player in IPL history. Brad Hogg played his last match for IPL in 2016 at the age of 45 years and 92 days. He came on the field for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) against Gujarat Lions and took one wicket for 19 runs in his spell of 2 overs. Apart from KKR, Brad Hogg also played for Rajasthan Royals (2012 and 2013) in the IPL.
Indian records in the name of Praveen Tambe
Praveen Tambe holds two age-related records in IPL. He made his IPL debut for Rajasthan Royals in 2013 at the age of 41 years and 212 days. This is the record of the oldest debut in IPL history. Praveen Tambe also holds the record as the oldest Indian player in IPL. He played his last IPL match for Gujarat Lions in 2016 at the age of 44 years and 219 days. Dhoni will have to play for one more year for the record.
MS Dhoni is still far from becoming the oldest player in IPL history. But if he plays for one more year, he will break Praveen Tambe's record as the oldest Indian player. If Dhoni plays in IPL 2026, then his age will be around 44 years and 250 days. But at present, his name comes only after Brad Hogg and Praveen Tambe in the list of oldest players. In this list, Muttiah Muralitharan (42 years 35 days) is at number four and Imran Tahir (42 years 29 days) is at number five.
