Nepal’s Central Film Censor Board has halted the screening of the film. This decision has cast doubt on the film's release in Nepal. The movie is scheduled to be released in India on October 23.

Why was the film denied approval in Nepal?
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of Nepal has issued an official letter to the film’s distributor, National Cine Group Nepal. It states that the film cannot be permitted for public screening under Section 8(3) of the National Cinema (Production, Exhibition, and Distribution) Act, 2026.
According to the letter, the Central Film Censor Board reviewed the content submitted for examination and determined that it falls into a category prohibited by law. Consequently, the film was not granted approval for public exhibition.
Is the film’s plot linked to India-Pakistan tensions?
Reports suggest that the story of 'Udta Teer' revolves around the tensions between India and Pakistan. It is believed that this subject matter may have prompted the Censor Board's decision. However, the letter issued by the Ministry does not specify the particular scenes or content that led to the ban.
Nepal’s cinema laws contain provisions that allow for the prohibition of a film if its content is deemed harmful to the nation's interests or its communities. It is for this reason that 'Udta Teer' has been denied permission for public screening in Nepal.

When will 'Udta Teer' be released?
'Udta Teer' features Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles.
The film is directed by Aakash Kaushik.
It is described as an action-comedy.
The film is set to release in Indian cinemas on Friday, October 23.
