Kharmas: No auspicious activities will take place until January 15th; learn what you should avoid doing during Kharmas..

What is Kharmas? Karma holds special significance in Sanatan Dharma. According to religious beliefs, Lord Surya (the Sun God) should be worshipped with proper rituals during Kharmas. No auspicious or celebratory work is performed during this month. Auspicious ceremonies such as weddings, head shaving ceremonies, and housewarming ceremonies are prohibited during Kharmas. When Jupiter and Venus are in conjunction with the Sun (combust), all kinds of auspicious activities cease. The sounds of wedding music, which began on Dev Uthani Ekadashi, have stopped with the setting of Venus. While Venus sets on December 11th, the Sun God will enter Sagittarius on December 16th. This will mark the beginning of Kharmas. Kharmas will end on January 15th at 6:05 AM.

Sun God's Entry into Sagittarius
Ayodhya-based astrologer Pandit Kalki Ram explains that there are no auspicious wedding dates even after January 15th because Venus is not rising in January. Therefore, wedding dates will begin from the first week of February. On December 15th, the Sun God will enter Sagittarius. With this entry into Sagittarius, Kharmas will begin, which will last until January 15th. Buying new buildings or new vehicles is also considered prohibited during Kharmas. If you want spiritual benefits during the month of Kharmas, you should worship Lord Surya Narayan.
