When leaving home for an important task, everyone hopes for success and a smooth journey, free from any obstacles. Many people pray to God before stepping out, while others pay attention to various auspicious or inauspicious signs. According to astrological beliefs, factors such as the rhythm of one's breath, maintaining a positive mindset, and even the occurrence of a sneeze are considered significant when setting out. Astrologers suggest that by keeping a few things in mind, one can begin their day with a positive outlook.

Things to consider when leaving home
Pandit Umachand Mishra, an astrologer based in Faridabad, advises paying attention to the rhythm of one's breath when leaving the house. The airflow through the two nostrils can vary; the left nostril is associated with the 'Chandra Swara' (lunar breath), while the right is linked to the 'Surya Swara' (solar breath). It is traditionally believed that one should step across the threshold first with the foot corresponding to the side where the airflow is stronger. This practice is thought to be linked to achieving success in one's endeavors. When heading out for an important task or business matter, one should remain hopeful of success; following this tradition—stepping out with the foot corresponding to the dominant nostril—is believed to increase the likelihood of favorable outcomes in work or business.
Maintain a positive mindset
Pandit Umachand Mishra notes that acknowledging and praising the positive qualities of others—whether while traveling or during an encounter—brings joy to the other person. Since offering praise costs nothing, one should make an effort to recognize the good in others; this helps in fostering better interpersonal relationships. It is also important to cultivate positive thoughts before leaving home. A positive state of mind allows an individual to focus more effectively on their tasks. Linking the mind to the Moon, he explains that positive thoughts provide the strength needed to navigate difficult situations.
There is also a traditional belief that if one sneezes while setting out for an important task, it is advisable to pause for a short while. Traditional beliefs attribute different meanings to sneezing once, twice, or three times. Some even consider a loud sneeze to be an inauspicious sign. However, these are religious and traditional beliefs; they should not be regarded as scientifically proven indicators. Ancient texts contain references to various omens—such as the sound of one's voice or a sneeze—that are considered auspicious or inauspicious when leaving the house. People follow these beliefs based on their personal faith. It is essential to maintain a positive mindset and to proceed with hard work and thorough preparation to ensure the success of one's endeavors.
