Hing in the belly button: Asafoetida is a spice found in almost every Indian kitchen. It not only enhances the flavor of food but also adds aroma. Furthermore, asafoetida is considered extremely beneficial for health. In Ayurveda, it is considered a panacea for many digestive problems. However, did you know that applying asafoetida to the navel, in addition to eating, can also provide benefits? Nutritionist Shweta Shah Panchal recently shared a post on her Instagram handle. In this post, she describes some of these benefits. Let's learn about them, as well as the correct method of applying asafoetida to the navel.

What does the nutritionist have to say?
According to Shweta Shah Panchal, if you have problems with gas, bloating, or indigestion, applying asafoetida to the navel can be a very effective remedy. This remedy improves digestion, reduces gas and bloating, and helps gently eliminate toxins from the body.
How does it work?
In Ayurveda, the navel is considered the "center point" of the body, from where many nerves extend throughout the body. Applying oil or any medicine to the navel quickly has its effects felt throughout the body. Asafoetida has anti-bloating, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties, which help reduce stomach gas, pain, and heaviness.
More Benefits
According to Ayurveda, regularly applying asafoetida to the navel improves digestion, can reduce menstrual cramps, relieve abdominal bloating and pain, and also improves sleep quality by calming the stomach.
How to apply?
Mix half a teaspoon of asafoetida with one teaspoon of castor oil and warm it slightly.
Apply it to the navel and surrounding area before going to bed, and massage gently.
Leave the oil and asafoetida on overnight and rinse it off with lukewarm water in the morning.
Keep these things in mind:
If your skin is very sensitive, do a patch test by applying a little oil to your hand first.
Do not use too much asafoetida, as it may irritate.
Pregnant women should consult a doctor or Ayurvedic specialist before using this remedy.
Clean the navel thoroughly before applying the oil or asafoetida.
