With the departure of winter, the weather begins to change, but a mild morning chill is still felt. Therefore, it's best to start your day with a breakfast that's light on the stomach, delicious in taste, and provides adequate protein. If you're looking for a healthy and tasty breakfast, Moong Dal Paneer Cheela can be a great option. This dish is not only nutritious but also quick to prepare. Let's explore its easy recipe in detail.

Required Ingredients

Yellow mung dal – 1 cup (soaked for 2 to 3 hours)

Paneer – 100 to 150 grams (well-mashed)

Ginger – 1-inch piece

Green chilies – 2

Yogurt – 2 tablespoons (to make the batter soft and fluffy)

Spices – Salt, a pinch of asafoetida, turmeric, roasted cumin powder

Finely chopped vegetables – onion, bell pepper, coriander leaves

Batter Method

First, drain the water from the soaked mung dal. Now, in a mixer jar, add the dal, ginger, green chilies, asafoetida, and a little water and make a fine and smooth paste. Make sure the batter is not too thin. Add yogurt, salt, and a little turmeric to the prepared paste. The consistency of the batter should be like dosa batter, so it can be easily spread on the pan.

Stuffing Method

Take a bowl and add the mashed paneer to it. Now add finely chopped onion, capsicum, and coriander leaves. Add a little salt and a pinch of chaat masala for flavor and mix everything well. This mixture is ready to be stuffed into the cheela.

Process of Baking the Cheela

Heat a non-stick pan on the stove and lightly brush with oil or ghee. When the pan is hot, pour a ladle of batter and spread it in a circular motion. Try not to make the cheela too thick or too thin.

Now, pour a little oil or ghee on the edges and cook over medium heat. When the bottom surface is golden and crispy, carefully flip it over and cook the other side.

Serve with the stuffing.

When the cheela is cooked thoroughly on both sides, reduce the heat. Place the prepared paneer stuffing in the center of the cheela and fold it in half. Press it lightly and cook for another minute to warm the stuffing inside.

Serve hot moong dal paneer cheela with green chutney or yogurt. This breakfast is not only filling but also rich in protein, providing energy for the whole day.
