Roop Chaudas 2025: Roop Chaudas, also known as Naraka Chaturdashi, is considered a festival of beauty and purity. It is believed that on this day, Lord Krishna killed Narakasura, bathed, and adorned himself with sandalwood paste, Ubtan, and fragrant oil. Since then, the tradition of applying Ubtan on this day has been prevalent.

The purpose of applying Ubtan is not just to enhance beauty, but also to purify and energize the body. It is believed that applying Ubtan on Roop Chaudas purifies both the body and mind, removes negative energy, and bestows the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi.
According to Ayurveda, Ubtan removes dead skin cells and brings glow and radiance to the skin. Therefore, it is customary to apply Ubtan, specifically made from sandalwood, turmeric, gram flour, and rose water, on this day. It is said that anyone who applies Ubtan before bathing on Roop Chaudas is blessed with radiance, good fortune, and happiness and prosperity.
While it's traditional to apply a face pack before Roop Chaudas or Diwali, everyone's skin type is different. Applying the wrong face pack can lead to problems like rashes, oiliness, or dryness instead of glowing skin. Here's what to avoid for each skin type.
Oily Skin
If you have oily skin, avoid using cream, yogurt, or a lot of oil. This can cause excess oil to accumulate on the face, leading to pimples and blackheads. For those with oily skin, a face pack made of gram flour, turmeric, sandalwood, and rose water is the best option.
Dry Skin
If you're applying a face pack on Roop Chaudas, be careful not to use lemon, multani mitti, or talc-based face packs. These can further dry out the skin. For those with dry skin, a better option is to use a face pack made of milk, honey, cream, almond powder, and turmeric.
Those with Sensitive Skin
Some people have sensitive skin and can't use all types of products. Those with sensitive skin should avoid using a scrub containing excessive amounts of turmeric or lemon. These can cause allergic reactions or irritation. They can use a mild scrub containing aloe vera gel, gram flour, and rose water.

Those with normal skin can use a traditional scrub of gram flour, turmeric, and milk. Rose water can also be added to the scrub. However, always do a patch test before applying the scrub, especially if your skin is sensitive.
