On this day, Bhandara is organized at various places. Although Bada Mangal is special in the whole of North India, its different charm is seen in Lucknow and Kanpur. Today we are going to tell you the recipe of colorful boondi to offer bhog to Hanuman ji on Bada Mangal. Let us know about the recipe in detail-
Let us tell you that Hanuman ji is very fond of sweets. He especially likes boondi, laddu, and things made from jaggery. Colourful boondi is as attractive to look at as it reflects devotion. Red, yellow, orange, and green coloured boondi are considered to be the symbol of different qualities of Hanuman ji.
Red colour: Symbol of Hanuman ji's courage and sacrifice
Yellow colour: Represents his knowledge and intelligence
Green colour: Symbol of peace and faith
Orange colour: Represents energy and enthusiasm
Ingredients required to make colourful boondi
Gram flour - 1 cup
Water - ¾ cup (or as per requirement)
Baking soda - 1 pinch
Food colour - red, yellow, green, orange
Oil - for frying
Sugar - 1.5 cups
Water - ¾ cup
Saffron threads
Cardamom powder - ¼ tsp
Method of preparation
Sift the gram flour and take it to a bowl. Add water to it and prepare a thick but flowable solution. Then add baking soda to it and whisk it well so that there are no lumps.
Now divide the batter into 4 parts and add one colour to each part. Now this colourful batter is ready to make boondi.
After this, heat oil in a pan. Then pour the batter through a boondi strainer (big spoon with holes) and fry the boondi. Keep in mind that the boondi should not be too crispy, fry lightly, and take it out. Fry all the boondi of all the colours in this way and keep them separately.
Put sugar and water in a pan. Cook it on medium flame till the syrup becomes one string thick. Add cardamom powder and saffron.
Now put all the colourful boondi in the syrup and mix well so that the syrup gets well on every boondi. Keep it covered for a few minutes so that the boondi becomes a little soft.
Now this colourful, sweet, and beautiful boondi is ready. Cool it down and offer it to Lord Hanuman.

Keep these things in mind.
To make the size of the boondi small and uniform, do not keep the strainer at a high height.
If you want, you can also add dry fruits like raisins or chopped cashews.
