Health Tips After Train Travel: Diwali is approaching, and these days, a large number of people are traveling long distances by train, bus, or flight to reach their homes. These hours-long journeys often leave us feeling tired, lethargic, and weak, which directly impacts our health.

Sitting in the same position during travel causes muscle stiffness, dehydration, and irregular eating habits, which disrupt our digestive system. An even bigger problem arises when, instead of resting after reaching home, people immediately return to their normal or festive routines, making many mistakes that can severely impact their health.
This is a time when your immune system is weakened, and you are easily susceptible to infections. Therefore, it's important to give your body time to fully recover before enjoying the festivities. In this article, let's explore what you should keep in mind to stay healthy after a long journey.
Hydration and a Light Diet
Sweating and drinking less water during travel can lead to dehydration. Hydrate your body by drinking lukewarm water, lemon water, or coconut water as soon as you arrive home. Also, avoid eating heavy, fried, or spicy food immediately. Eat light and easily digestible meals like lentil water, khichdi, or soup to give your digestive system a break.
Don't immediately engage in heavy work or exercise.
The body desperately needs rest after a long journey. Lifting heavy luggage or immediately starting an intense workout can increase muscle pain and tension. To calm down, do 15-20 minutes of light stretching. This will relieve stiffness and improve blood circulation.
Prioritize Adequate Sleep and Rest
People often get too busy meeting friends or relatives upon reaching home and neglect sleep. Getting adequate sleep (7-8 hours) is crucial to overcoming travel fatigue. Sleep is the time when the body repairs itself and recharges immunity.

Hand Washing and Personal Hygiene
During travel, we come into contact with many surfaces that may harbor viruses and bacteria. Upon arriving home, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and shower immediately. This will ensure you don't spread any infections you might have picked up from your travels, protecting your health and that of your family.
