There is news of relief for the Indian team before the start of the five-match Test series against England. Head coach Gautam Gambhir, who returned to India due to a family emergency, will rejoin the team on Tuesday. The first Test match between India and England will be played in Leeds from June 20 and Gambhir will once again join the team before that.

Gambhir will leave tomorrow.

Gambhir's mother had to be hospitalized after suffering a heart attack, due to which the Indian head coach had to return home. A source in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said to news agency PTI, that Gambhir's mother is fine now and he will leave tomorrow and join the team the same day.

The former Indian opener did not take part in the intra-squad match played between India and India A in Beckenham without spectators. In his absence, assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate, batting coach Sitanshu Kotak, and bowling coach Morne Morkel monitored the team's preparations before this five-match series. The Shubman Gill-led Indian Test team is looking to win its first series in England since 2007.

The road is not easy for India.

India A played two unofficial Test matches against England Lions and the batsmen showed their strength in it. Such matches are important for the team's preparation before any series. The Indian team has opted to play intra-squad matches in an empty stadium so that the opposition team does not get a clue of their strategy.
