No need for potatoes, and no extra effort required—here’s how to make delicious cabbage parathas..

You have likely enjoyed parathas made with potatoes, *bathua* (lamb's quarters), or spinach during the winter season; however, if you are looking for a new flavor for breakfast, why not try making cabbage parathas? Cabbage parathas are incredibly delicious and quite easy to prepare. Best of all, they can be made in very little time. They are perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and are sure to be a hit with everyone—from children to the elderly.

Homemaker Prabha Sharma explains that to make cabbage parathas, start by removing the outer leaves of the cabbage. Wash the cabbage thoroughly in clean water to ensure all dirt and debris are removed. Finely chop the cabbage and place it in a bowl. Next, finely chop some onions, green chilies, and fresh coriander leaves. Add these to the chopped cabbage and mix everything well.

Preparing the stuffing for cabbage parathas:

Add red chili powder, coriander powder, *amchur* (dried mango) powder, *garam masala*, salt to taste, and a spoonful of *ghee* to the mixture. Combine all the ingredients well using your hands; your delicious stuffing is now ready. Separately, knead some whole wheat flour with water—ensure the dough is soft. Once kneaded, cover the dough and let it rest for about 5 minutes. Then, divide the dough into small, equal-sized balls. Take one ball, roll it out into a flat disc, and place a portion of the prepared cabbage stuffing in the center. Seal the edges together, then gently roll it out again.

Cook the paratha over medium heat using *ghee*:

Place the paratha on a hot *tawa* (griddle). Apply *ghee* to both sides and cook over medium heat until it is well-browned and cooked through. Once the paratha turns golden and crispy, remove it from the griddle. Your delicious cabbage paratha is now ready. Prabha Sharma suggests serving cabbage parathas with potato curry (aloo ki sabzi), yogurt, and an onion-garlic chutney. They also pair well with morning tea and make a great addition to children's school tiffin boxes. Furthermore, if guests arrive unexpectedly, you can prepare and serve these tasty parathas to welcome them.
