In Hinduism, the period known as 'Panchak' is considered highly significant. It spans five days and is generally regarded in religious belief as an inauspicious time. During this period, there are strict prohibitions against performing certain specific activities.

It is believed that engaging in these forbidden tasks can lead to various problems in one's life; therefore, it is advised to adhere to the rules associated with Panchak. According to astrology, when the Moon transits through the zodiac signs of Aquarius (Kumbha) and Pisces (Meena)—passing through the final five *nakshatras* (Dhanishtha, Shatabhisha, Purva Bhadrapada, Uttara Bhadrapada, and Revati)—this five-day duration is termed 'Panchak.'
In this article, we will explore when Panchak begins in the month of November and identify the activities that should strictly be avoided during this time.
**When does Panchak begin? (Panchak in November 2026)**
According to the *Panchang* (Hindu calendar), Panchak will commence on November 17 at 03:30 PM and conclude on November 21 at 05:54 AM.
**Activities to Avoid**
Traveling in the southern direction is prohibited during Panchak, as this direction is associated with Yamraj (the deity of death). If travel in this direction becomes unavoidable for an essential task, one should first perform a proper ritual worship of Lord Hanuman before setting out on the journey.
During the construction of a house, the roof should not be cast (laid) during the Panchak period. It is believed that doing so can lead to financial loss and increased discord within the family.
Additionally, collecting or purchasing fuel—such as firewood, cow-dung cakes, or dry grass/fodder—for the household is forbidden during this time, as it is believed to increase the risk of fire-related mishaps. Be Sure to Follow These Measures
It is worth noting that one should certainly take specific measures to ward off the adverse effects of 'Panchak'. It is believed that performing these practices during the Panchak period yields auspicious results.

During the Panchak period, offer 'Arghya' (a ritual offering of water) to the Sun God daily. Be sure to add red sandalwood and 'roli' (vermilion) to the water. According to tradition, performing this ritual with a sincere heart brings success in business and invites the blessings of the Sun God.
Furthermore, making donations during the Panchak period holds special significance. One should donate food, wealth, or other essential items to those in need or at a temple. This is believed to foster prosperity and ensure that one never faces a lack of anything in life.
