The song 'Mangal Rang' from the film 'Ramayana' (featuring Ranbir Kapoor) has become a topic of discussion on social media. A debate has emerged regarding the song's musical composition, with some questioning its musical treatment.

Critics argue that the track bears the influence of Sufi Qawwali, which they feel is inappropriate for a film based on a Hindu epic. Others have drawn comparisons to earlier works by A.R. Rahman, including the song 'Kun Faya Kun' from the film 'Rockstar'.
The Hindi version of the song is performed by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal, while the Kannada version, titled 'Mangala Sangamam', is sung by Armaan Malik and Bela Shende. Addressing the criticism, Armaan Malik remarked that every individual has their own unique perspective on how they perceive and experience music. Notably, 'Mangal Rang' depicts the wedding of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita.
What did Armaan Malik say about the song?
In a recent conversation, Armaan Malik stated, "The entire music team worked with a single goal: to ensure that the musical experience would reflect the sacred love and divinity portrayed on screen. How a listener interprets music always depends on their own perspective—that is the very nature of art. As an artist, my focus was on the profound devotion of that moment, and I aimed to present it with the utmost respect."
Singing for Ranbir was a dream for Armaan.
Armaan Malik had long aspired to sing for Ranbir Kapoor. In several past interviews, he had expressed his desire to lend his voice to stars like Ranbir Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan. With 'Mangala Sangamam', that dream has now been realized.
Reflecting on this, Armaan said, "For me personally, this is a major achievement." We have all grown up watching certain stars who have redefined romance and emotions in cinema. For my generation, Ranbir Kapoor is one such artist. The journey behind this song makes it even more special to me.
