Reheating oil can turn into a 'slow poison'; doctors say it can cause dangerous changes in the body...

Did you know that a small mistake in your kitchen could bring you closer to a life-threatening disease like cancer? That mistake is reheating cooking oil. We often do this, thinking that the oil won't be wasted, but do you know how much of a threat it is to your health? The oil that we reheat, thinking it's useless, is actually poisoning our bodies. Let's understand this from Dr. Tarang Krishna.

Why does oil become poisonous when reheated?
When we reheat oil repeatedly, it releases toxic compounds and free radicals. These free radicals directly damage our cells, increasing the risk of cancer. Repeated heating also creates chemicals like aldehydes and pH in the oil, which are carcinogenic. This means that they have the potential to cause cancer in the body.

Eat Street Food with Caution

According to Dr. Tarang Krishna, a survey has revealed that many street food vendors in India use the same oil up to four or five times. Oil samples taken from them contained toxic substances twice the World Health Organization (WHO) standards.

So, the question now is, what should we do?

Always use fresh oil: Avoid reusing oil that has already been used once.

Choose healthy options like mustard oil and peanut oil: These oils are considered good for health.

Use olive oil wisely: Avoid pomace olive oil for cooking. Use extra virgin olive oil instead, but make sure it is used for salads or light dressings, not for frying.

Choose baked and steamed options over fried foods: Reduce the amount of fried foods in your diet and include baked and steamed foods instead.

Use pure ghee: If possible, use pure ghee for cooking. It is considered the safest and healthiest option.
