Paneer Kofta is a popular and delicious dish in Indian cuisine, often prepared for special occasions. Its creamy gravy and soft koftas (dumplings) elevate the dining experience significantly. If you wish to recreate a restaurant-style Paneer Kofta at home, this easy recipe is perfect for you.

Ingredients
For the Koftas:
250g paneer (Indian cottage cheese)
2 boiled potatoes
2 tablespoons cornflour
1 green chili, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
Salt to taste
Oil for frying
For the Gravy:
2 medium-sized onions
2 tomatoes
10–12 cashews
1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
1/2 teaspoon garam masala
2 tablespoons fresh cream
2 tablespoons oil
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing
Instructions for Making Koftas:
Begin by grating the paneer thoroughly. Peel and mash the boiled potatoes, then mix them with the grated paneer. Add the cornflour, salt, green chili, and red chili powder to the mixture and combine until you achieve a smooth, soft consistency.
Shape the mixture into small, round koftas. Heat oil in a pan and fry the koftas over medium heat until they turn golden brown. Once they are golden brown on all sides, remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel.
Instructions for Making the Gravy:
Lightly boil the onions, tomatoes, and cashews. Once cooled, blend them into a smooth, fine paste. Heat oil in a pan, add the ginger-garlic paste, and sauté.
Next, add the prepared onion-tomato-cashew paste and cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring continuously. Once the masala begins to release oil, add the turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Sauté the masala for a few more minutes to ensure the raw flavor is cooked out. Now, add water as needed and cook the gravy over low heat for 8 to 10 minutes. Finally, stir in the garam masala and fresh cream, mixing everything well.
Serving Suggestion
Add the prepared koftas to the gravy just before serving. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and a little extra cream. Your Paneer Kofta is ready.

Important Tips
Do not keep the koftas in the gravy for too long, as they may become too soft and break apart. Adding kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves) to the gravy enhances both its flavor and aroma. Serve this delicious Paneer Kofta with naan, tandoori roti, parathas, or jeera rice, and enjoy its rich, royal taste with your entire family.
