Nowadays, capsicum (bell pepper) is mostly consumed as an ingredient in pizzas, burgers, and noodles, even though it can be used to make a delicious vegetable dish. The best part is that it can be prepared using ingredients already available in your kitchen, without needing anything extra. You might be thinking we are talking about the potato-capsicum combination, but here we are discussing a dish made with capsicum and a gram flour (besan) mixture.

**Capsicum and Gram Flour (Besan) Sabzi**
This dish is a North Indian dry curry recipe, typically served as a side dish. Let’s look at the special recipe:
**Ingredients**
1/4 cup gram flour (besan)
2 chopped capsicums
2 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon fennel seeds
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 finely chopped green chili
1 pinch asafoetida (hing)
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon Kashmiri red chili powder
3/4 teaspoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon dry mango powder (amchur)
1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
Salt to taste
**Method**
To prepare this dish, first add 1/4 cup of gram flour to a pan and roast it over a low flame.
Once the gram flour turns golden-brown, it is roasted; remove it from the pan and set it aside.
Next, heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large wok (kadhai) and add 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, 1 teaspoon fennel seeds, and a pinch of asafoetida.
After that, add the finely chopped green chili and cook over a low flame.
Then, fry the 2 chopped capsicums in the same oil. Be careful not to overcook the vegetable. In this step, add 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder, 1/2 teaspoon of cumin powder, 1 teaspoon of dry mango powder (amchur), 3/4 teaspoon of coriander powder, and 1 teaspoon of Kashmiri red chili powder; mix everything well.
Cook these spices on a low flame for 2–3 minutes; once they become aromatic, it indicates that the spices are well-cooked.
Now, thoroughly mix the roasted gram flour (besan) into the spice mixture. If the dish appears too dry, sprinkle a little water over it.
Cover the dish and cook it on a low flame for at least 5–6 minutes.
