Hal Shashthi 2026 Date: Hal Shashthi (also known as Hal Chhath) is celebrated annually on the *Shashthi* (sixth day) of the *Krishna Paksha* (waning phase of the moon) in the month of Bhadrapada. It falls two days before Janmashtami. Hal Chhath is also known by names such as Har Chhath, Lalai Chhath, and Balaram Jayanti. This day marks the birth of Lord Balarama, the elder brother of Lord Shri Krishna. Since his weapon is the *Hal* (plough) and he was born on the *Shashthi* tithi, the day is called Hal Shashthi or Hal Chhath. On this day, mothers observe a *Nirjala* fast (fasting without water) and perform rituals to ensure the happiness and health of their children. Those without children observe the fast with the hope of being blessed with offspring. This year, three auspicious *Yogas* (astrological combinations) are forming on Hal Chhath.

According to the Vedic *Panchang* (almanac), the *Shashthi* tithi of the *Krishna Paksha* in the month of Bhadrapada begins at 6:12 AM on September 2 and ends at 4:25 AM on September 3. Based on the sunrise date, Hal Chhath or Hal Shashthi falls on Wednesday, September 2.
Hal Chhath and the 3 Auspicious Yogas
Three auspicious *Yogas* are forming on the day of Hal Chhath. Firstly, *Dhruva Yoga* will prevail from the morning until 9:12 PM; thereafter, *Vyaghata Yoga* will begin and continue throughout the night.
Additionally, *Ravi Yoga* and *Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga* will be active from 1:43 AM (post-midnight) until 6:00 AM on September 3. *Bharani Nakshatra* will prevail from the morning until 1:43 AM on September 3.
Hal Chhath 2026 Muhurat (Auspicious Timing)
The *Brahma Muhurat* for Hal Chhath is from 4:29 AM to 5:14 AM; however, there is no *Abhijit Muhurat* on this day.
