Sawan: Sawan is beginning with four auspicious alignments; when can the Rudrabhishek be performed?

Sawan is the fifth month of the Hindu calendar. It is also known as the Shravan month because the full moon day coincides with the Shravan Nakshatra. The month of Sawan is dear to Lord Shiva. During this time, people observe fasts and perform rituals such as worship, *Jalabhishek* (offering water), *Rudrabhishek*, mantra chanting, and *Havan* to seek Shiva's grace for the removal of life's hardships and the fulfillment of their wishes. This year, the month of Sawan begins amidst four auspicious alignments. Let us find out when *Rudrabhishek* can be performed during Sawan 2026.

**Sawan Begins on July 30**
This year, Sawan begins on July 30. According to the *Panchang* (Hindu almanac), the *Pratipada Tithi* (first day) of the *Krishna Paksha* (waning phase of the moon) of the Sawan month begins at 8:05 PM on July 29 and continues until 9:30 PM on July 30. Based on the *Udaya Tithi* (the lunar day prevailing at sunrise), Sawan *Krishna Pratipada* falls on July 30.

**Sawan Begins with Four Auspicious Alignments**
This time, the month of Sawan commences with four auspicious alignments. The first day of Sawan features *Ayushman Yoga*, *Shravan Nakshatra*, *Saubhagya Yoga*, and the Thursday fast.

*   **Ayushman Yoga:** *Ayushman Yoga* forms in the morning on the first day of Sawan and lasts until 12:05 AM (late night). *Ayushman Yoga* bestows excellent health and longevity upon an individual. Performing Shiva worship during this auspicious yoga helps one attain good health.

*   **Saubhagya Yoga:** *Saubhagya Yoga* also occurs during the Sawan *Krishna Pratipada Tithi*, lasting from 12:05 AM on July 31 until 11:54 PM that night. This yoga enhances happiness and good fortune.

*   **Thursday Fast:** Sawan begins on a Thursday. Thursdays are traditionally observed with fasting and the worship of Lord Vishnu; however, every day of Sawan is dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva. Thus, the first day of Sawan offers an excellent opportunity to worship both Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu.

*   **Shravan Nakshatra:** The *Shravan Nakshatra* prevails on the day of Sawan *Krishna Pratipada*. The ruling planet of the Shravan Nakshatra is the Moon, while its presiding deity is Lord Vishnu. This Nakshatra is situated in the Capricorn zodiac sign; consequently, it embodies the energies of both the Moon and Saturn.

**Dates for Rudrabhishek during Sawan 2026**
Rudrabhishek is performed on days when *Shiv Vaas* (Lord Shiva's presence on Earth) occurs; the ritual is not conducted if *Shiv Vaas* is absent. For instance, *Sawan Mondays* are excellent for Rudrabhishek. Additionally, *Sawan Pradosh* and *Sawan Shivratri* are considered highly auspicious occasions.
